Samantha Ruth Prabhu is currently awaiting the release of her period drama Shaakuntalam which releases this Friday, April 14, 2023. The actress will be seen playing the titular role in the film, However, the actress was forced to cancel promotions due to her poor health. 

Taking to her social media handle Samantha updated her fans and revealed that her hectic schedule has taken a toll on her health and she is down with a fever. Samantha was also scheduled to attend a promotional event at MLRIT College’s annual day. However, owing to her current health condition, she might not be able to attend the same. ALSO READ | WHAT! The actor has been travelling across Mumbai, Kerala, Chennai and other cities to promote her film.


The actor tweeted, “I was really excited to be amongst you all this week promoting my film and soaking in your love. Unfortunately, the hectic schedules and promotions have taken its toll, and I am down with a fever and have lost my voice. Please join team #Shaakuntalam at the Annual Day Event of MLRIT this evening… will miss you.”

Samantha’s health concerns sparked amid the sharp hike of Covid-19 cases in India. 

Previously, the actress had shared that she has been diagnosed with the auto-immune disease Myositis and has spoken about her health being a concern several times.

Samantha got candid about her battle with myositis through her social media post in October 2022 and wrote, “Your response to the Yashodha trailer was overwhelming. It is this love and connection that I share with all of you, that gives me the strength to deal with the seemingly unending challenges that life throws at me. A few months back, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis. I was hoping to share this after it had gone into remission. She added in the note, “I am slowly realising that we don’t always need to put up a strong front. Accepting this vulnerability is something that I am still struggling with. The doctors are confident that I will make a complete recovery very soon. I have had good days and bad days…. physically and emotionally…. and even when it feels like I can’t handle one more day of this, somehow that moment passes. I guess it can only mean that I am one more day closer to recovery. I love you.. THIS TOO SHALL PASS.”
